Not every plumbing problem is a major project. In fact, many of the calls I receive involve the smaller plumbing problems that homeowners deal with every day—a dripping faucet, leaking pipe, running toilet, broken shutoff valve or outside faucet that isn't working properly.

PLUMBING TECH provides residential plumbing repairs throughout Ocean City, NJ, and I welcome the smaller repair jobs that some homeowners may have difficulty finding a plumber to handle.

Whether the problem is large or small, I'll take a look at it, explain what I find and determine the most practical way to make the repair.

Some homeowners hesitate to call a plumber for a small problem because they think the job isn't big enough. At PLUMBING TECH, those are actually many of the jobs I prefer.

I repair both traditional copper piping and newer PEX piping. Whether a pipe has deteriorated with age, developed a leak or has been damaged by freezing temperatures, I can repair the affected area or replace the piping when necessary.

Some of Ocean City's remaining older homes still contain galvanized water piping. As galvanized piping ages, it can deteriorate and eventually leak or fail. When necessary, I can remove the damaged galvanized piping and replace it with copper or PEX, depending on the situation and the homeowner's preference.

A leaking or dripping faucet doesn't always need to be replaced.

Whenever practical, I'll first determine whether your existing fixture can be repaired. If the fixture is worn beyond practical repair or you simply want to replace it, I can install a new one.

I repair and replace kitchen faucets, bathroom faucets, shower valves, outside faucets, hose bibs and other residential plumbing fixtures and valves.

A toilet that runs constantly is an obvious problem, but toilet issues aren't always that noticeable.

Sometimes you may hear the toilet suddenly refilling by itself even though nobody has used it. That can be an indication that water is slowly leaking from the tank and the fill valve is periodically turning on to replace the lost water.

There are many possible causes of running or leaking toilets, so rather than assuming what the problem is, I'll evaluate the toilet and determine what needs to be repaired.

Clearing a clogged drain sometimes solves the immediate problem—but I also like to determine why the drain became clogged in the first place, particularly when there's evidence of a problem with the piping.

If a drain isn't properly pitched, has separated, cracked or otherwise failed, simply clearing the blockage may not provide a lasting solution.

When appropriate, I can correct the pitch or remove the damaged section and replace it with properly installed new drain piping.

Shutoff valves are easy to overlook—until you really need one.

If a plumbing fixture or pipe suddenly fails, being able to quickly shut off the water can help prevent significant damage to your home and belongings. That's why I believe shutoff valves should be kept in good working condition.

I repair and replace various types of residential water shutoff valves, including fixture shutoffs and main water shutoff valves.

Every home should have an easily accessible and properly functioning main water shutoff. If your home doesn't have one, or the existing valve is difficult to operate or no longer shuts the water off completely, I can install or replace it.

Sometimes a plumbing problem isn't obvious.

You may know something isn't right but not know what's causing it. Maybe there's an unexplained leak, unusual plumbing behavior or another problem that doesn't have an obvious source.

I actually enjoy troubleshooting these kinds of problems. I've encountered a lot of different plumbing situations over the years, and that experience can be especially valuable when diagnosing something unusual.

I'll investigate the problem, work to identify the cause and then discuss the appropriate repair with you.

Ocean City homes present some plumbing challenges that come with living at the shore.

Older homes may still contain aging piping, while outside showers and other exposed plumbing can be damaged by freezing temperatures if they're not properly winterized before cold weather arrives.

Because my work is focused here in the Ocean City area, I'm familiar with many of the plumbing problems that occur in local homes and shore properties.

My approach is pretty simple: if something can be properly repaired and it makes sense to repair it, that's the option I prefer to consider first.

Sometimes replacement is the better choice, and I'll tell you when I believe that's the case. But I don't believe something should automatically be replaced simply because repairing it takes a little more effort.

You might call that an old-school approach. I look at it as trying to provide the customer with a practical solution and, when possible, saving them the expense of replacing something that still has useful life left in it.

That means you're dealing with the same person from start to finish.

I'm a one-man shop and intentionally focus on residential service, repair and installation work that I can personally perform. I don't take on commercial plumbing, large condominium projects, major sewer replacements or new construction.
